Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO)
The CSO is a new role being created by large corporations to help them prepare for a future where sustainability is mandatory. The CSO will advise the board on sustainability issues, develop a corporate sustainability strategy, and oversee its implementation. The CSO will also identify and evaluate pilot projects and programs to enhance the sustainability agenda.
Why is this important?
Governments around the world are making commitments to sustainable development goals (SDGs) and climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. This will lead to new policies and regulations that companies will need to comply with.
